ABOUT ME:

I have been working in clay for over 20 years, going back to my days in high school where I would spend as much time in the clay studio as my teacher would allow (and she allowed a lot!). I continued my studies at the Oregon College of Art & Craft and the Rochester Institute of Technology's School for American Crafts where I earned an MFA in Ceramics. My work ranges from large scale, site specific installations to functional pottery.

The themes for both my sculpture and pottery are inspired by nature, specifically the coast. Rather than creating exact representations, I abstract patterns and forms to reference the natural world. I am drawn to a soothing and calm color palate, utilizing the endless possibilities of ceramic glazes and firing to create unique surfaces. My current focus is creating one of a kind pottery meant to be enjoyed in the home every day.

I enjoy connecting with my local community in Rockville, MD and beyond. Few things make me happier than to hear someone say  that one of my mugs is their favorite and they drink from it everyday.
